It is the busiest time of year and like time-work, my computer which has been a faithful partner for 3 years has started to act up. Well this year my sweet wonderful parents bought a big new Dell for my birthday. Thanks Mom and Dad!
I know, my photo friends are saying why not a Mac??? Well the Mac equivalent to my PC would cost me $5500 and another $1000 in software upgrades. So the order was placed with Dell on the the 9th of Sept with a delivery date of the 17th. Wonderful, except the delivery date was moved 3 times and then an email to say it was cancelled! We replaced the order and then the delivery was the end of October! That would not work. Tried to cancel within 10 minutes of placing the order and was told this was impossible because it was in “production”. Huh? It is not to be delivered for a month, surely there should be some way of cancelling an order placed 10 minutes ago that is not supposed to ship for a month. After speaking to at least 20 people the answer was the same, when the computer arrives call for a RMA number and we could then return it. Of course you pay the shipping and a 15% restocking fee! What has happened to Dell? I have been a loyal customer for 10 years and feel totally betrayed by them. Needless to say I will never buy anything from them again. I have filed a complaint with the Attorney General’s office, BBB and the Consumer Trade Commission and will now move on.
We have just purchased an equivalent HP on Monday which shipped today, two days before they said! Now that is the way to run a company.
So to all my sweet patient clients waiting for work from me, the nightmare is almost over and with this powerful new machine I should be able to be caught up very soon. Thanks so much for your understanding in this saga and if you are buying a computer, beware of Dell! They are not the company they used to be.
Sorry for the rant.
