Why I Love Babies and 5 Year Olds {Long Island Children’s Photographer}

These two cuties came for little brother’s 6 month photos.  Couldn’t you just eat them up!  Olive enjoyed the visit as much as I did.  Miss S and Olive are BFFs

It Has Been Awhile… {Long Island Family Photographer}

I have tried to write this post for months now but for many reasons it just didn’t happen.  As many of you know, about 3 am on the morning of October 24th, we woke to a fire in our home.  It is the one thing that you fear the most but really think will never happen to you.  Even while you are watching your home burn, you just can’t believe it.

Thank God my husband and daughter made it out without physical injury.  We did loose my sweet puppy Gracie.  That loss and the loss of my client and personal work along with the entire contents of my office and our home was and is devastating.  My personal and business computers, records and camera equipment were all lost.  Our lives will forever be defined by this event  as “before the fire” or “after the fire”.  A friend was saying her friends in Louisiana experienced the same thing after Katrina.  It is a true milestone in your families history.

As horrible as this experience was, what has happened afterwards has been so wonderful and overwhelming.  Our family, friends, community, my sweet clients, my husband’s employer Brooks Brothers and co-workers and the photography and apparel industries have come out to support us in ways that we are in awe of.  The love and support shown my family has been most humbling.   We are at a loss for words to express our gratitude.  All of these wonderful people and businesses will always be remembered fondly by my family.

We consider ourselves the luckiest people alive.  We look forward to rebuilding our home and getting back to whatever our new “normal” will be.  My family and I consider our new life an adventure and will try to appreciate the gift of each new day.  We look foreword to paying it forward to honor the experience we have had.  I am excited about our future and look forward to seeing old friends and making new friends this year.

And speaking of the future…  meet Olive!  Olive is a gift from my sweet parents in Louisiana.  She is the 1/2 sister of their little Yorkiepoo, Little Bit, and was born on my birthday!  Poor Olive left the warmth of Louisiana to come to the snowy New York winter weather.  She has adapted well and actually seemed to like snow and ice.  She got quite brave because she wanted to follow her idol, my daughter’s dog Rhea.  She would follow Rhea way out into the yard in pretty deep snow or very slippery ice.  I took some funny video that I have to figure out how to post here.  Olive has put a big smile on all of our faces during this crazy long winter.  She really is a joy!

So… it is nice to be back!  I have some wonderful sessions to post and some fun images/videos of Olive and other cute pups. I am unable to log into my Woof pet photography blog at this time so I will be posting some recent dog images here on the  ”…life as it happens” blog until I can get that resolved.   Again, there are no words to express our profound thanks for your love and support.  It has meant everything.

Really, she is so cute!

The other amazing thing about sweet Olive is that she doesn’t mind the camera so much.  Gracie and Sophie would turn their heads as soon as I put the camera to my face!  Olive, at least at her grand old age of 5 months, just might be my dream photo dog!

The H Family in Montauk~Sneak Peek {Long Island Family Photographer}

I was delighted to photograph the extended H family during their vacation in Montauk.  It was a beautiful, although windy day (the giant balloons didn’t quite work out!).  It was a pleasure spending time with you guys!  Here are a few images from the day until your gallery is up this week.

Goodbye Dear Friend {Long Island Family Photographer}

It is with a broken heart that I announce the passing of my sweet pup Sophie.  Sophie has been suffering from an ocular tumor for the past 9 months.  Sophie handled her last months with love, dignity and amazing courage.  She has been my best friend and companion for more than 12 years.

Sophie often accompanied me on photo sessions to the delight of my little clients.  Two of my favorite clients that I see each year really loved Sophie.  One year I made the great mistake of leaving Sophie behind when I went for our annual photography session in PA.  Not a good idea!  Little G cried immeadiately when she saw me without Sophie and her sister H wasn’t a bit too happy either.  Needlees to say, that was a mistake that I didn’t make again and the girls and then their little brother took a photo with Sophie every year.

Sophie loved these outings and any outing that included riding in the car.  In the winter of 2002, Sophie and I drove from Long Island to Baton Rouge, LA stopping along the way to visit family and friends and visiting interesting sites in many states.  What a great travel companion she was making friends at every stop!  People who didn’t like dogs all seemed to like Sophie.  She was so darn cute and sweet you just couldn’t help yourself.

Our annual summer trips to Maine were also something Sophie enjoyed as much as we did.  As soon as we drove up to the ferry she would know and get excited.  She loved sitting on the porch looking out on Penobscot Bay and hanging out with her dog friend who lived next door.

There are no words to say how much we will miss her.  She gave us nothing but joy and unconditional love every day of her life.  Our only solace is knowing that she is no longer suffering and is now at peace.  She will be in our hearts forever. I love you Sophie girl.

Lifestyle Art II {Long Island New York Child Photographer}

Here is another idea that would be wonderful in a child’s room.  The background color can be done a color to coordinate with the child’s clothing or the room decor.  There are 25 images on a 20×20 gallery wrapped art canvas so it arrives ready to hang.  Beautiful!  This has stolen my heart, what about yours?!

Sneak Peek ~ Miss G at 9mths

Boy do I have some blogging to catch up on!  My New Year’s resolution is to post at least twice a week.  So that I don’t blow it the first week I will catch up on the sessions done towards the end of Decmeber that never made it up in all the holiday craziness at the office.

What better way to start than with our Miss G!  Miss G is one of my “Year One” babies and documenting her fist year has been a joy!  She is now 9mths and I think she could be walking on her own before her fist birthday.  She is already pushing her baby’s stoller and gets around quite well.

This was G’s “pointing” session.  G pointed to everything!  So darn cute.   G’s four legged cousins were staying with her while their parents were in Europe.  Loved getting a few shots of them.  Babies and dogs, what could be better!  Looking forward to seeing you Miss G for your 1st birthday.  Boy did this year fly by!

Happy Halloween!

My dear friend Liz was here for Halloween with her daughter’s family which includes two of the cutest little boys you have ever seen!  My little buddies where ducks this year and what wonderful ducks they were.

Our community has a wonderful event where all of the children in the area come in their costumes to the beautiful historic Stony Brook Center and trick or treat at the stores there.  There were hundreds of little cuties in great costumes.  It was great fun and really makes me miss having a little one!  My daughter still loves Halloween but not with Mom!
